Sprue Candelabras
Gating wax is a soft extruded wax normally used to create channels or “sprues” which direct the flow of molten metal to an object being cast. The Sprue candleabra strips down the idea of casting by using the same standard wax to create the final form with the base of the design acting as a pour spout for the molten metal. The textures within the wax are translated into bronze so the castings are left intentionally raw allowing the surface to tell the story of how it was made.
